What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage is intended to do more than just help you relax and feel good. Therapeutic massage helps to relieve the underlying problem in your soft tissues (muscles and tendons) that are causing the pain, tension, and stress that you have been feeling.

Therapeutic massage promotes health and well-being and provides relief from the physical and mental stress caused by muscle pain and tension. The benefits to your health include pain relief, reduced stress, restored muscle function, and improved sleep, mood, and circulation.

How Does a Therapeutic Massage Help?

When your body is healthy, your muscles are at a normal length and state of tension. As we move through our lives, we engage in activities that cause our muscles to shorten, or contract. Sometimes, our muscles remain in this contracted state, and we feel this as either pain or tension.

Br pressing into muscles in a specific way, a skilled massage therapist can cause a release in a muscle, restoring its normal length and state of tension.

Therapeutic Massage Complements Other Bodywork

Therapeutic massage is a wonderful complement to chiropractic care and other forms of bodywork, such as acupuncture. Together, they facilitate natural healing power by keeping the body in proper alignment and ensuring a free flow of nerve impulses and circulation of fluids. While chiropractic focuses on the structure (bones and joints) of your body, massage focuses on the soft tissues (muscles and tendons).

Together, therapeutic massage and chiropractic (or other forms of bodywork) provide you with a more complete and effective system of health care.
